Mun?

can anyone tell me which schools have MUN and which don't? I was shocked to find SPS didn't have one (at least according to BSR)

I loveeee MUN and even though it's a freshies thing ( loving every single club you've joined once you've taken a break from it) i still really think i want to do this for a solid 4 years.

pretty much all schools have it, but I want to know specifically which ones.

which schools have competitive MUN, which are more lax, and which schools are arguably the "best"

SPS does have MUN.

[BestDelegate.com: A High School Student’s Perspective on MUN](http://www.bestdelegate.com/2008/02/high-school-students-perspective-on-mun.html)

You should contact SPS directly to confirm that they do not offer MUN. ECs at schools often vary year to year because they depend on the interest of the current student body.

Blair has MUN [Blair Academy - News & Events](http://www.blair.edu/News_Events/2007_2008/news_ev_model_un.shtm). If Blair or any school that interests you has the program, you should contact the faculty member in charge to learn more. For Blair, you contact Dr. Marty Miller.

In addition to doing a MUN search on boardingschoolreview, you can also do one at [TABS: Top College-Prep Independent Boarding Schools Directory](http://www.schools.com). In both cases, you should confirm your findings directly with the schools.

I think it’s good that you are investigating which schools offer the programs you want. Some people just decide by prestige, and assume that any prestigious school would be a good fit.

woah. college MUN? that’s cool  we only have regional/international MUN in my school…

thanks guys!

Well, when it comes to debate, public speaking, and MUNs Hotchkiss is clearly the “best.” This year Hotchkiss came No.1 American school at Internationals, they were No.1 at Yale MUN last year and probably will repeat the feet this year, and they consistently produce excellent debtors and win tournaments at the highest level. So if Public Speaking and Debate is your thing Hotchkiss is defiantly the place to be.

The debating school are in roughly this order: (Based on World Tournament placement, Internationals, YMUN, and school circuit debate tournaments)

1.Hotchkiss (by far)
2.Kingswood-Oxford
3.Windsor
4.Andover
5.SPS (close)
6.Deerfield (close)

I found the MUN Conferences(I looked at two and found all my schools on there… might be more?) that boarding schools are in… That was the easiest way for me.

SPS has had a good year this year by the way. They are probably second this year after Hotchkiss.

fun is fun, any comments? :)

also folks, your is not the same as you’re.

Ad Hominem attacks are so below the belt… I realized that I made those errors already but I could not care less about correcting them. It’s an internet post not a Literature essay for some Harvard professor …

I have more important things to do than proof read a CC post …

The great Fun is Fun already commented on this topic in this thread…

The funster’s recollection is that Hotchkiss has a particularly strong debating team year in and year out.

Sorry if you felt attacked…I found your typos amusing, that is alll, especially debtors instead of debators - considering the cost of a boarding school education, and the economic situation of the country right now.

I don’t expect people to proofread an internet forum post the same way they do an application essay. But, I see some errors so often (your/you’re; there/their) that I sometimes wonder if these errors end up on final applications. I am also aware that not everyone here is a native English speaker, so I wouldn’t expect the same language proficiency from everyone.

But, lets be honest: some typos are just funny.
