Murphree, Keys, or Beaty West?

Hey everyone!

So I'm stuck between 3 choices and have no idea what to choose, I can either choose:

2 Room Double in Murphree Hall
2-Room Apartment Style in Beaty West
4-Room Apartment Style in Keys Complex

Right now I have a room in Keys, but I really wanted to live my 2 friends, but the likelihood of that happening in Keys is small.

I like the idea of not having to worry about a random room mate in Murphree, but I hate all the inconvenience I might face while there (i.e. Shared Bathroom and Shared Kitchen)

I hear the two room double are HUGE and are well worth it, is this true?

Do both areas have bad parking too? I'm going to have a Red 1 this Fall.

Any recommendations on any of these dorms?

Please and thank you!

I’m in a 2 room double in murphree now, and it is awesome. Hands down the best dorm on campus. my room is a little over 3/4th’s of a normal double. because Murphree is seperated into sections with only like 32-35 people, and a bathroom on every floor, I never have to wait for a shower. There are sinks in the rooms too, so that’s convenient. The kitchen is sort of inconvenient. There isn’t a lot of counter space, but that is different for each section, so the other sections may have a better kitchen.
The location is awesome too. I can reach my farthest class in less than 5 minutes. Out of those options, I would pick Murphree.

Whoops, I meant to say a TWO ROOM TRIPLE since it is for me and two other friends of mine.

Sorry about that, is that worth it?

How’s parking by Muphree anyway?

And is it awkward to go through one room to get to the other since I saw a video where the two rooms are separated by a door.

I still think a two room triple is good. the room that is sopposed to have to people is bigger than the single person room, so it is not that big a deal.

It is not a hassle going from one room to the next. I barely even notice if my roomate is there. both closets and the sink are in here room, so I just knock when I want to go in, but most of the time I forget and just walk right in and she is fine with it (or atleast she hasn’t complained about it). it’s not like people come in and out of their room all that often.

Parking does suck though. I don’t have a car, but there is only a small ring of red one spaces around the murphree area, so it definitely doesn’t look like a lot. but if you stay during the weekend, it clears out so you could move your car closer if you end up having to park far away during the week.

Thanks! Supposedly the Two Room Triple is really nice, but I’m not sure if I’m buying into that.

Does having to share a bathroom with everyone on that floor a hassle?

Thanks for being so helpful!

Like I said, Murphree is set up differently from the other dorms. instead of being set up by floor, it is by sections. So you can go up and down the stairs in your section. a section only has like 30-40 people, with 2 bathrooms for each gender, so really your only sharing a bathroom with like 15-20 people. it’s one shower and 2 stalls per bathroom and they’re cleaned everyday. I don’t mind it.

Alright then, thanks for your advice!

I have one room mate that REALLY wants to move there in the two room triple and another who’s not so sure about it. I’m leaning towards it as I’m thinking about it, but not too sure.

Ideally, I would really want to room with my two other room mates, but not so sure if everyone will be ok with living in a two room triple in Murphree :/

Hey guys! I’m a senior at UF and last year there was a huge problem with UF housing. A week before school started, over 200 incoming freshman (who were “guaranteed” housing) were told there was a “housing overflow” and they had to find somewhere else to live. They ended up moving off-campus at the last minute.

Just wanted to let you know! Maybe look into apartments near UF, or an off-campus residence hall like Ivy House or Windsor Hall. I lived at Ivy House my freshman year and it was closer to my classes than most UF dorms, plus you are guaranteed placement into the room you sign up for!

Let me know if you have any questions. Go gators!!

^shameless plug

Yeah that Overflow thing was such a problem, benefits of being a re-contracting returning student! :)

I heard browsed was a great dorm. When can we do summer housing to pick our rooms

I heard nothing but horror stories about Broward! lol

Summer housing I have no idea dude
