Museum Studies at Midwest LACs

My senior son is about ready to start hitting the "send" button on his college applications and before we do I wanted to make sure we weren't missing any possible good fit schools for him. Here are the details:

He wants to study anthropology/history/religious studies at an LAC with a career path in museum studies. He prefers schools in the midwest.

He is a 3.0 student with a 24 ACT. Both GPA and ACT pulled down by poor math scores (ACT = 16). Good ECs, but nothing unique.

He plans to apply to: Beloit, Earlham, Kalamazoo, Cornell (Iowa),Wooster, Knox, Albion, and Alma. Beloit and Earlham have museum studies minors. The others have tailorable majors.

He isn't interested in, nor would he thrive, at a large school. So our in state schools; U of Michigan, Michigan State, Grand Valley, etc., are not options.

I'm aware of OOS schools with well regarded museum studies majors such as Baylor and Iowa, but these would be too large for him.

Also we're realistic in that he likely won't have the grades/scores for schools such as Carleton, Oberlin, Kenyon, Reed, Macalester, etc.,

We've saved enough to cover about $20,000 out of pocket for his tuition per year. Our EFC is estimated at $4,000 (we'll have two sons in college, twins). The tuition calculators I've used at some of the colleges he's applying to estimate that our net cost will be below the $20,000/year we've set aside.

Are there any schools that fit the above criteria that we may be overlooking?

Ripon College is similar to some of the others on your list. It offers both Anthropology and History. On the website each major lists it’s unique features.

Thanks for the response. We’ll take a look at Ripon.

What about Columbia College in Chicago? They have a big arts program–might be worth a look. Not sure if he wants to be in the city though.

Maybe Hope in Michigan as well.

Thanks. We’ll give Columbia a look. Hope is an excellent school, but like its rival Calvin College, it may be a bit too evangelical/conservative for my son.

Hanover allows for make your own major, and has anthropology as well. Financial ais is good and it is Miswest with milder winters.

Skip Columbia College in Chicago, not in same league as other named schools. Sleeper-candidate Ripon has excellent financial aid, and likely on par academically with Beloit and the others.

Thank you to all who commented. I guess we should to take a closer look at Hanover and Ripon.
