Music acceptance: good signs or wishful thinking?

First, very happy to say that D auditioned for her first choice music school on 11/3 and fell deeper in love with the place. They said 3-4 weeks before notifications would be sent out. D received acceptance letter 9 days later - she’s wondering if getting a letter so quickly means anything.

Also, this week the head of her program, who was not at her audition, called her and welcomed her to the college and asked if she had any questions. It was such a kind/classy move. Do all schools do this sort of thing, or again, should she be thinking this is a good sign that they really want her?

I am just happy she got in - she is convinced this means that scholarship dollars are headed her way. Don’t want her to get her hopes too high. What do you good people think?

Congratulations. Of course it’s a good sign! She was accepted, and quickly to her first choice school - always terrific news. As for scholarships, the head of her program asked if she has any questions - why not ask when any information about scholarships would be sent? It’s a fair enough question.

I agree! Good news for sure. No way to know what it will mean as far as scholarships but guaranteed that she will not get less scholarship money because of her early acceptance. Interesting that they called her. Yes, obviously she impressed someone enough that they felt the need to make the call. Probably would be a good idea to make a visit to the school and meet whoever you can. The extra interest and effort could result in more scholarship money.

Sounds like they really liked her, which of course is a good sign, and it could be an indication that she may be in for a decent merit scholarship (I say indication because you knew never what goes on, maybe they want her but have someone else they want more and give them more…but I suspect this means you are going to do well).

In any event, the hard part, getting in, is over, which rocks if she likes the school, now everything else will be gravy so to speak, because part of the worry is over;)

Unfortunately our dates with infamy happen in the new year and we prob won’t know with most of them (other then one) until April or so.

I can definitely agree that things are looking up! Congrats to your daughter!

MovesLikeCobham, if you would care to specify which school accepted your daughter and the major she would pursue there if she attends, we would love to include this information over on the recently started http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1427644-master-list-music-school-acceptances-fall-2013-a.html
