Music Accesories.

BEFORE you go on, please read the following. :)

I'm not a hardcore average joe music/song fan...

I do watch videos on youtube etc most of the time and rarely listen to some music/songs on my computer with earphones on. However... I think it's time to get some new thing.

So...

Should I get headphones? Headsets? or earphones?

I can hardly recognize sound differences so I don't need some fancy audio thing...

Thank you!

I love my Bose headphones. They’re on-ear headphones, not the noise-cancelling types, I’ve had them since like 2007 and they sound fantastic. Much more comfortable than earbuds.

@RioBravo I’m just asking should I get headphones, headset or earphones. I will mostly use them when doing anything on my laptop that involves sound.

I’m no audiophile, however I always try to use headphones over earphones whenever I can; but its not always possible to carry it around.

I don’t know a lot about headphones, but I will refer you to this guide from the facepunch forums.
[ATTN: Refer to here if buying headphones](http://www.facepunch.com/threads/868300-ATTN-Refer-to-here-if-buying-headphones)
Its a lot more helpful than the usual “My XXX brand headphones are great. You should buy XXX brand too” response.

I have both headphones at my desk and earbuds for my backpack. If you’re mobile, you won’t be able to tell the sound quality difference between earbuds and headphones anyways because there will be so much ambient noise.

Headsets generally suck. I’ve had poor audio quality and broken microphones (for no reason) multiple times. Stick with headphones and a separate microphone which you can buy for a buck at a dollar store.

So if you plan on listening on the go…earbuds are the best choice. Otherwise get headphone. Quality depends greatly on how much you spend, but as a hint Bose and Monster (Beats) are giant wastes of money. Much better products available for much less.

yeah in retrospect i woudl’ve gotten some Sennheisers ocnsidering the price but like I said i love my headphones, enjoying some great music on 'em righr tnow as a matter of fact

If you truly are a casual listener, just go to RadioShack and pick out something that looks good for whatever you’re going to use it for. Sometimes they even let you try on a pair and plug them into your iPod right in the store. Be sure to ask first of course, lol.

I’m a voracious listener and a musician, and I have some decent Sony noise-blocking headphones I got from there that are probably under or around $50. They’re great for the price and mobility - they can fold to fit in a pocket or bag or whatever, and they’re much better sounding than a lot of earbuds in the same price range. So if you want to spend a little extra on something that’s going to last you a long time and sound great on those rare occasions you listen to music on your laptop or whatever, I’d recommend those.

I prefer earphones.

But I’m really strange. I lock my iPod at 1/4-1/2 the volume and listen to it at about 1/4 of that.

If you are a casual listener then just get earphones…they take up less space when you are on the go.

to hell with earphones! don’t listen to these squares!

I use my iPod’s earphone on the go, and I have a Sennheiser HD202 for laptop listening. It’s a cheap, good headset.

I use earbuds for listening to my iPod, and headphones for computer use. I use Skullcandy brand exclusively, but any decent brand of either would be fine.

This is definitively the best I have used when it comes to sound quality:
[Amazon.com: Sony MDR-7520 Professional Headphones: Electronics](http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR7520-MDR-7520-Professional-Headphones/dp/B004Z58VZ2/ref=sr_1_30?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1312603180&sr=1-30)

I listen to my music out loud, using my phone speaker, especially in places like buses, and trains. I feel obligated to spread musical awareness to the masses.

Use earphones wherever I am. Exclusively use skullcandy. You can get a cheap pair for like 10 dollars at Target. Their not as good as some of the more expensive ones, but their still better than most other earphones out there. I know a few of my friends have those Beats by Dr Dre. I’ve tried them before and they’re very good. If they didn’t cost so much i’d buy a pair.
