Music and Fine Arts

How strong are the music and Fine Arts departments at Holy Cross?

I don’t know about Fine Arts but the Music program is excellent. They offer several full tuition scholarhips and have 27 professors and a large selection of classes.

D looked into Holy Cross a couple of years ago and we found the variety of music ensembles somewhat lacking. There was a liturgical music group and a pep band, but I don’t think they had much in terms of orchestra/wind ensemble groups.

Anybody, correct me if we got the wrong impression.

Agree that the marching band is pathetic but I think the orchestra is very respectable.

I am wondering what motivated you to besmirch the HC marching band since they are out there showing their support as true fans do. Frankly, I would have expected you to be more generous since virtually all of your posts are about athletics- as a one man cheerleading section- and surely loyal fans deserve a measure of respect.

Over to you…

Since the numbers are so small they should just switch to being a small pep band and just stay in the stands. There are insufficient members to be a real marching band.

the marching is really laid back and apparently a good amount of fun. the orchestra is for serious musicians. it’s intense sometimes, but it’s really worth it. holy cross’s music department can accomodate everyone from beginning to advanced musicians. i was 1st allstate trombone senior year, and i feel that i am being challenged and encouraged to pursue music so far in my 1st semester freshman year.
