Music art supplement- non-western

Most of the colleges do not seem to have faculty in non-western music , such as the Indian classical music. In such cases, would it help if the student submits an art supplement regardless? One of the colleges says check with the music dept first- we expect they will say not feasible to evaluate such music. In this scenario, if we go ahead and still submt a music supplement, will the admin office forward it to their music department for an evaluation, only to be told that they cannot evaluate such a supplement- will this reflect negatively on the student's application? How else can the student show the admin office that they have spent years training in this music? A simple mentioning of this in common ap ECs does not show the depth of involvement.

Any inputs from people who have actually done this would be of great help.

Thanks.

Have you checked with that specific department to find out if they are able to evaluate it or not? My guess is that they have experience evaluating non-western art forms. If they don’t, they will know someone who does.

Send the supplement. It won’t count against you.

Thanks. I think we will submit the supplement and hope it will not annoy the admin officials.
