Music at Binghamton

I was wondering how difficult is it to receive lessons at Binghamton and are there any opportunities for chamber music available?

You should be able to find all that information here: [Binghamton University - Academics: Schools and Colleges: Harpur College: Music Department: Performance Courses](http://www2.binghamton.edu/music/performances.html)

I don’t know about orchestra/band, but I’m currently involved in the choir. You’re able to get free private studio lessons as long as you’re enrolled in at least one ensemble. The lessons will most likely be with a graduate student, and you have to audition first to get them. (Which sounds counter intuitive but I think it’s just to get a feel from what they’re starting with, so they know who to pair you with and have a basis to see how much you’ve improved at the end of the semester.) They’ll generally be about a half hour a week and you get one credit for it! I’ve really enjoyed my time so far in choir at Binghamton, and would suggest looking through the website, and if you have any further questions don’t hesitate to ask.
