I am by no means music major material, but I have been playing classical guitar for 11 years. I would love to keep taking classes in college. Of course, I could probably find an instructor in Portland if I had to, but it would be much more convenient to take classes at Reed. Does anyone have experience with the music department at Reed? Is it easy to get lessons if you aren't part of the major? Are music instructors the same quality as other professors at Reed? Is it easy to fit lessons into your schedule? Basically, any relevant information would be appreciated. Thanks.

It’s very easy to get music lessons outside the major and it’s easy to work them into your schedule. The department is great and the new performing arts building (which houses the music department) has great resources for students.

How much do lessons cost? I’ve also been playing the piano for about 11 years, and I’d love to take lessons, but money is an issue (when is it not?)

“Fees for private instruction (Music 101) are $477 each semester for twelve 45-minute lessons; some scholarship aid is available.”
