They have a really great music school, and I have heard it is especially great percussion. Actually, just this Saturday when I was at a Phil orch concert, I met a student who was in town from Seoul, Korea who came for his percussion audition at Curtis. He was talking about Temple also and how how they are a “legend” because of their wonderful percussion faculty. Almost all the Philadelphia Orchestra percussion section members have studied at Temple for either their BM or Masters, some went to Curtis and got their masters at Temple.
Several of the percussion students play in the same youth orchestra as me, and they are great. I went backstage after the concert and met the percussion players and they were all very nice people!

I can’t tell you exactly about the school, because I’m a senior and I have yet to go there, but I’m planning to go there in the fall.
I’m also not a percussionist- I’m a flutist, and they have an equally great flute faculty. But I hope I was helpful!

Plumeria,

You say you are a senior and are planning to go to Temple in the fall. Have you been admitted as a music major there or are you just talking about visiting? If the former, we would like to include your acceptance over at the http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/1045522-master-list-music-school-acceptances-fall-2011-a-27.html

My son is very happy at Boyer, as a Comp Major (yay!). Feel free to pm me with any questions!
