I just finished my first year of undergraduate and I am very confused about my major. I started with nursing and am currently communication disorders, but I haven't taken classes for either. I am very interested in the entire aspect of the music business industry, but I don't like the music business program that my college offers and transferring is not an option (I love my school too much.) I was wondering what opinions or advice would be? I'm all for graduate school if that needs to be done, but I'm just not sure if Business Administration would get me into the music aspect. I do not play any instruments so that is definitely out of the question. Any advice would be great!

Like it or not, you have a resource which can help you find your way in the music business, but you dismiss it because you don’t like it. Why don’t you like the music business program at your school?

There is no doubt that taking some business classes is useful to someone in the music business, but you have to know the music business. Do you have any experience? Keep in mind that there are other kids who have been working towards that. When I visited schools with my son, there were kids who had been promoting bands since they were 15, My son was teaching himself recording techniques when he was 14, You have to get out there. Bruce Springsteen found his manager because someone wrote a positive review for a newspaper (said something to the effect of seeing the future of rock n roll).
