<p>Can anyone recommend schools, preferably in California, with strong music departments in the nonclassical arena (contemporary music, jazz, electronic music, world music) AND has the potential for low cost either through in-state tuition at a public institution or through full-ride scholarships?</p>

<p>Adding to Spirit Manager’s list: University of the Pacific, University of Redlands, Chapman University. They are all private, but I have heard of some students getting a lot of scholarship help. I think CSU Long Beach is a more music-oriented CSU, as well.</p>
