Music Education in PA

Hi! I'm new to this forum, so if this is not in the right place to post I'm sorry. Anyway, I am a sophomore in high school, and I'd really like to be a choral director whenever I'm older. I had a few questions about going to school for music education

*I would like to stay in PA in case of family emergencies and stuff, possibly NY. My main 2 choices are Slippery Rock University and Clarion University, but I am willing to look into others.
*What do auditions usually require? My audition skills aren't the best, so I am still hoping I could get in.
*If experience is something you need to know then you can take time to read this, if not, skip it:
-Chorus 5th grade-present
-Select choir Girl's ensemble is chorus in 9th-10th grade
-Select choir in Junior High (7th-8th grade)
-Voice lessons 8th grade-present
-Select touring church choir 9th grade-present
-Musicals including: Bye Bye Birdie, Gypsy, Annie, possibly South Pacific
-Piano 9th grade-present, may not be able to continue
*I may be auditioning for a performing arts school for 11th-12th grade, but I'm not fully sure (I'm not very confident because my choir teacher tortures everybody)
*I have jaw cartilage problems (stupid orthodontic stuff) and I may need surgery, and I'm hoping it won't affect me forever, so if anybody happens to know about this they could let me know.

Those are my questions, so feel free to answer. Thanks!

My DD is a freshman at Slippery Rock and really loves it. She is a dance major so she had an audition but I am guessing it is very different from the music department. She is living in the LLC - the Humanities Dorm this year. They have a dance, art and music studio in the dorm so you are free to practice there any time. They also have carpeting and a built in microwave and refrigerator. The cost for in-state is to me very reasonable. And even though we are out of state the cost is still better than going to an in-state school. She loves her professors, feels all of them this first semester take an interest in their students. Sorry I can’t be more help for the Music major piece but wanted to take time to reply. Feel free to ask me any other questions.

there is a entire forum group on CC for music majors. Search for it - it can be very helpful.
