Hi, I'm Ashley. I'm a high school senior who is looking for a college that has a music ed/performance double major. I know it will probably be over 4 years of schooling and I know it will be difficult but I can't think of anything else I'd rather do. I play trumpet, I've been playing since 4th grade and have been taking private lessons since 8th grade. I'm first chair in my high school and am in the Young Professional Philharmonic. Also I made it in the The Great American Marching Band for the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. So that explains my ability. I'm looking for a school that I could double major in music education and performance that has good instructors. Thanks for all the help.

You should pop over to the Music Major Forum and browse through the many threads. Lots of information about music ed & performance majors, and double majors.
Oberlin offers a BA in performance and an MA in music education in a 5 year program.

I confess that I know very little about music majors, except from what I have learned from a friend’s daughter. UCONN has a program for music majors- a combination of a BA in music, BS in music ed and an MA, it is a 5yr program. I don’t know about performance degrees. Best of luck!

University of the Arts in Philadelphia has a 5-year program, lots of opportunities.
