Music for Studying

With some of us still in finals mode, I was just wondering for those of you who listen to your Ipods when studying, is there any chill, acoustic music you would recommend? For example, I really like Bon Iver and Iron & Wine when studying.

Thanks

Only classical music, and sometimes pop. But never NEVER any garbage “music” like rape or techno

I always listen to music when Im studying. Matter fact, I watch TV too which explains why i always get distracted lol

Did you just say rape music?

I listen to Common radio on last.fm. Most of the music on it is pretty mellow and gets me in the mood to get work done.

Classical music is pretty nondistracting, or anything else that is purely instrumental with no lyrics. Video game soundtrack works well too.

I usually don’t listen to music while studying though. This is only when I need to drown out the sound of other people talking around me.

Only classical. Things with words mess me up, so do fast and distracting beats. My roommate likes to blast Mike Posner and various rap songs while studying.

I usually just go with the usual stuff. Although I would say things that are more instrumental or lack a lot of lyrics are better. I like…

-My Amelie soundtrack
-Sigur Ros
-Amiina

Sigur Ros would be a great idea. Snow Patrol would also be really good.

Look up Study Rock on iTunes Essentials for some really good study tunes.

I stay away from music with words when I am studying since they can be a distraction so classical and instrumental music

I like listening to techno/dubstep actually. Mostly the stuff I usually listen to.

I really like fratmusic.com. Anyone ever use that? It’s great for ALL the time, and there’s a “studying” channel. My personal favorite is the Rave channel though, either Dirty Dance Party or Rolling Face. They sometimes replay songs but if you skip around it’s okay. It’s a lot like Pandora, actually.

They have music for everything, though. Parties, pregames, chilling, smoking, sex, whatever. It’s awesome!

I prefer to listen to classical music. There are times, though, where I’ll listen to relaxing instrumental music, e.g. Thievery Corporation and Ulrich Schnauss, as well as jazz music, but it depends on what exactly I’m working on.

Agree. things with words confuse me. But then after listening to the same classical piece, strings start to sound like singing. Try some minimalist music, Philip Glass etc. I also particular enjoy Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos. When I’m feeling the need to really concentrate, I get online radio (free from iTunes) so I don’t run through my own library.
