Music Grad School

Hey,

I am looking for some advice on how to get into an Ivy League Grad School for Music for music composition.

I am currently attending a top liberal arts college where my cumulative gpa at the moment is a 3.65 (placed out of a lot of intro level classes for my major and have been taking junior/senior level seminars beginning in Freshman yr) I am currently taking a seminar in Music Composition alongside master's and doctorate students; I have been keeping up with them.

I have about 2 yrs before I apply and was wondering on any advice to make myself competitive besides raising my gpa (am currently working on that).

Thank-you in advance!

Are the Ivy Leagues the strongest programs for what you want to do? A common mistake is assuming that “Ivy League” means best for anyone’s field…I’ve been accepted at two Ivy’s for grad school (Upenn and Yale) and neither one of them are necessarily better than other places I’ve been accepted (UIllinois, Northwestern, etc.) Yale has a fairly good program out of Norwich, CT for music…just make sure “Ivy League” is really what you want.
