Hi, I was wondering what specifically qualifies as a hook other than ethnic/athletic/legacy status?

Would performing at Carnegie Hall be a hook?

Thanks!

At a real, paid for performance as part of a professional group if would be an excellent EC but not a hook.

If like half of the kids in NYC, you played there as part of a student group it’s just another activity.

If you are a prodigy like Yoyo Ma was when he applied to Harvard, and if you were paid to perform a solo concert at Carnegie Hall, then yes, music would be a hook.

Winning or placing in an well known international competition might also be a hook.
