Music Industry BS Question

Hey everybody, has anyone who has already gotten in get into the music industry major at Thornton? I really want to get in, and I'm just curious to see who has gotten in and what their stats were like. Thanks so much!!!

^ I’m wondering the same thing! :)

I believe that final decisions were being made this week and last. I think the decision will come in the mail within a week or two.

D applied to Thornton for Music Industry. She was accepted to Dornsife as undeclared. We are waiting to hear as well. Good luck to all of you.

iamjen, what were your D’s stats? i am trying to get into Thornton as well!

sscott - My D’s sats are not typical, she was truly chosen holistically.
SAT 2040, ACT 31
GPA 3.99 UW/ 4.51 W
AP LIT 4, in AP CALC this year
Class Rank 1/92 at a small charter school
(She is the first student to ever be accepted to USC from her school)

EC: ASB 7-12, Treasurer 10-11, Special Activities Director 12
Yearbook 11-12, Yearbook Editor 12
National Honors Society 9-12, Vice President 12
Senior Leadership Team Treasurer, 12

Volunteers 3 hours a week at local blood bank.

Has been attending the local community colleges since she was 12. Will be earning her AA in Humanities in May, graduates from high school in June.

Has no musical talent, but loves the business side of the music industry.

Started her own promotion company in 2010. She promotes a small but internationally know band, holds contest, sell merchandise, keeps fans updated with new information regarding the band and touring information.

She has interviewed a number of business professionals, gathering information regarding management style and techniques.

Her passion came out in her essays. Her teacher recs were good, but I truly believe it was her passion, dedication, and hard work that sold USC on her.

Good luck to all of you.

Has anyone heard anything from Thornton yet?

D just received letter from USC stating she is being admitted into her first choice major: Music Industry. Our wait in finally over. I hope the wait for the rest of you ends soon. Good luck!

D was an early admit into Dornsife with a Dean’s scholarship.

Congrats iamjen1! Thanks for sharing the wonderful news!

I just got accepted into the music industry bs today. does anyone know of a group online to connect with everyone who’s been accepted?

cxly13 are you pupfresh

iamjen1 and cxly13, congrats!!!

On the music forum students are posting their acceptances to music schools/conservatories. Perhaps you may wish to add your moniker names to the list.

Congratulations!

@iamjen1 yes, i write for pupfresh periodically. how did you know?

Does anyone know how many Music Industry BS students they usually accept?

At the presentation that I went to with my D, they said approx. 45 students.

The Thornton School of Music is highly selective. Even though the school has various majors the entire freshmen class is well under 150 students.

When we attended an information session, I remember them saying about 45 students are accepted to Music Industry each year. However someone else posted that Thornton as a whole only accepts approx 150 students.
