(Just from my humble experience/opinion)-

I personally know of two students who were admitted to USC based on their connections but these were exceptions and, I believe, extreme circumstances and very rare. I live in Southern California and it seems that just about everyone I know has a connection to USC and many of those who applied did not get in. Even being a legacy will get you nowhere because everyone here is a legacy. (You should see the USC flags flying around on game days.)

So, there's no way to know for absolute sure what this person can and will do for you, but I believe it is pretty close to impossible for them to do something "legal" to help you. If you find out otherwise from your friend, please let all of us here on CC know.

haha ok i was just wondering!! thanks for all of your help!!

anyone else?!?! especially info on the music industry!!

what info do you need for that major? it's kind of competative and if you don't have any experience or specific music(industry) classes under your belt, you're pretty much screwed. it requires a second application (to thornton school of music) and is only looked at once you apply and get accepted by usc. once you turn in this second app, you have to be selected. there's a B.M. and a B.S. and if you choose the B.M., expect to take an audition.

that's a general idea of it. they have a couple links on the usc website which give an idea of what you need to do. it's alot of work and really competative.. i'm not sure if it's more competative than the music insramentalist majors, but there are going to be alot of people applying to this major. <-- haha, so what else is new???!!
