Music Major at stanford

Hello!
So my question is this-how does being a music major influence how your application is viewed by stanford? I understand that with “typical” majors, such as English, Bio, physics, etc, major choice does not really impact your chances of getting in, however, with music I was wondering if its somewhat different-after all, not every person applying as a music major will be able to be good at music, and hence those who play better should have better chances of getting in. I can safely say I would probably be one of the top applicants for music there-stanford is not really a school for music, and I could (probably) get into Julliard, Manhattan, etc. I want to go to Stanford because I have the option of declaring a second major once I get in.

If you’re looking into music then Stanford probably isn’t the place for you. Stanford doesn’t really care about your major when you’re applying (all Freshman go in as undecided). You can submit your music performances through the Arts Portfolio but it’s treated just as another part of your application. You will still be in the big competitive pool of people applying to Stanford.
