So I'm planning on getting a major in music management but I'm still not sure what colleges I should apply for. So what are good colleges to study music management? And any other information you have about music management would be appreciated ! thanks

Look for Music Industry programs. There are a number of programs like this including NYU, Northeastern, Drexel, Syracuse, and I think a new one at USC?

Many music schools and departments are adding classes in this field. The Arts Administration major has been around for a while - the focus there is on working for a symphony orchestra, opera, ballet, etc. Music Industry or Music Business focuses on the artist/band/promotion side of the business.

Be sure to check the application/audition requirements for the schools you are considering and find out whether they offer a BM, BA or both.

What part of the country are you looking at, and do you want to continue to study in an applied area as well?

You do not say if you are also a musician. Many music industry programs are part of the music department at the college/university, and require you to study music.

Belmont has a music business school that is not part of its music program per se. Some other schools you might want to look at are:

SUNY Oneanta
Frost at U Miami
Middle Tenessee State University
Hartt School at University of Hartford

I’m looking more into the music business part . And no not a musician…I’m thinking about going to Columbia in Chicago. But is Columbia considered a good college to major in music management? From what I heard that it is more of an arts and performing school. thats why i ask. Also what do you mean by wanting to continue to study in an applied area?

You might want to look in to Drexel: [Music Industry | Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts and Design | Drexel University](Music Industry | Drexel Westphal)

Applied music refers to your performance area, so that sounds like a no for you!

If you’re not a musician, at some schools you will not be able to major in music business. At the university of Hartford, for example, you would have to major in arts management. Music business is part of the music school, and you have to be a musician to get in.
