Music practice for non music majors

I play the steel drums and was wondering what my options are in terms of practicing when at NU.

I won't be majoring or minoring in music studies.

Are there practice rooms for non-music studies students?
I've looked online but haven't found much info.

I know there’s a practice room in the basement of my dorm that everyone is welcome to use. I don’t know whether every dorm has this, though.

I’ve also heard there are some rooms in one of the music buildings that everyone is allowed to use. I read on a website somewhere that they were only for music majors, but I’ve heard that everyone is allowed to use them anyway. I don’t know what the deal is with that…

Smaller dorms don’t tend to have anything. :(

My dorm is fairly small.

what dorm are you in?

I just visited Northwestern’s music school, and if I recall correctly, they have an entire set of practice rooms dedicated for nonmajors. I think it’s called the Beehive, but I’m not sure. The building didn’t look too hot, but it makes sense that you would be given the more run-down practice rooms if you’re a nonmajor.

They seem to have a lot of options for nonmajors interested in music, and that’s one of the main appealing factors for me.
