<p>Are the music programs such as orchestra, ensembles, and marching band recognized at Vandy? I'm thinking to take Music as a minor if I could attend, because I've been in my highschool band (symphonic, jazz, and marching) all 4 years, and I hold leadership positions, and it is one of my advantages for application. By the way my school's band is one of the tops in the South-East region, and we just went to a marching exposition at Vandy back in October where we won second place.</p>

<p>get on the phone and call the dean at Blair School of Music. You'll find the folks to be tremendously helpful and supportive--</p>
<p>blair is unique at Vandy. a small world inside a larger school inside Nashville. for individual attn it is a great enviroment.</p>
<p>i'm not sure on the minor as to whether you must audition or not. vandy's app deadline is only a few days away so you must get busy. final auditions are only a few weeks away also.</p>
<p>as it is a minor you are thinking about, i believe you would apply to another school as your first choice. as to whether that helps you--there are a lot of musical kids at the various schools who aren't majoring in it--.</p>
