I'm a highschool senior looking for some good, intense music camps for this summer. I was never too serious about music before the past year or so (even though I've been playing since 4th grade), so, preferably, I'd like to find a camp that only requires auditions for seating or not at all.

I've found http://www.stolaf.edu/services/conferences/camps/musiccamp/index.html, which looks good and the sort of thing I'm looking for.
If anyone has any comments about this program or any other suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Thank you!

Um, don't know what you mean by intense, but Kinhaven Music School in Weston, VT has some very talented kids and a great laid-back environment. It's a six-week chamber music program, and admission is competitive, but once you're in, competition virtually ends-everyone is friendly and supportive. That doesn't mean that the program is any less music-focused, though;there are set schedule/practice and rehearsal times, but there's also plenty of recreational activities like swimming/art/tennis/etc. as well. Personally I found it to be a nice balance of musical and non-musical activities. The only auditions that are held take place the second day, and those are for placement into the 1st chamber music assignments; orchestra seats rotate equally according to the week. Plus, the scenery is breathtakingly gorgeous. So yes, I highly recommend Kinhaven for any serious musician; however, if cutthroat competition is what you're looking for, I would consider places like Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan (based on what I've heard).

Yeah, that wasn't very clear.
I meant intense as in lots of music and theory and stuff, not competative.

Thanks. I'll look into that.
