Music-Related EC's?

I'm currently a junior. What EC's out there are musically related? I want to have my EC's focused in one area, my passions of music. I have already made All State band every year since the 9th grade, am in Tri-M musical honor society (hoping to be President next year), and founded a brass quintet that performs at senior centers and school events as needed. I am also doing numerous national competitions for my instruments this year. Are there any other musically pertinent clubs that would be good for me?

I think you will be fine with what you have. If you really want to add something, you might look at teaching lessons to some younger kids, but it is not really necessary.

Quite honestly, instruction, coachings and practice time for national level competition(s) typically does not leave much wiggle room or free time.

Beyond what you’ve already listed, and shennie’s suggestion, a local or regional youth orchestra/or symphony, possibly a community/regional band or orchestra depending on your level of talent and what’s available in your area. Also, there are often student internship or volunteer opportunities available within these organizations as well. Absent from your list is participation in summer music immersion programs, a typical experience for those pursuing music at a higher level.

Multiple EC’s even within music do not necessarily serve to aid your musical development or may even be at cross purposes with your specific goals. Spreading too thin for the sake of broadness or the futile exercise of resume padding can detract from concentrated effort and involvement in specific areas, particularly if your short term goal is to be competitive within the talent pool of national level competition.

Are you going to be a music major? Either way, with your current activities and the ones that have been suggested, you have done plenty. Don’t sacrifice quality for quantity.
