My son is very into playing with his various rock bands. Not as interested in jazz though he does that as well. No classical.
Any sense of what the “scene” is at these places? Lots going on? Easy to find practice spaces?
Thanks.

Wesleyan - Pretty active for a college its size. Virtually every University Relations vid features a student produced soundtrack in the background. Practice space has never been a problem. Several bands have gone on to commercial success over the years, including MGMT and Das Racist. At last count, there were 20 active bands on campus:

I agree with Wesleyan and will also suggest Vassar. Many bands at Vassar also also - S1 played in one band that rotated in new members in as the seniors graduated so there is a sense of legacy and progression. Also he attended several concerts 5 minutes away in Poughkeepsie as well as on campus. They seem to draw some good groups from NYC.
