Music Scholarship Wait List ?

A month ago D got her acceptance letter from her top choice music school and the letter said she was being put on a scholarship wait list but they encouraged her to attend without financial assistance as many of their music students do. Then without thinking she told someone who is acquainted with the applied professor that the school was her top choice and she was going to go there. At that point we realized she shouldn't have let the cat out of the bag, so she was advised by her private teacher to send a formal acceptance rather than play the waiting game and risk insulting the applied professor since she had already told someone she was going to accept. This, of course, means that there's no reason to offer even a small scholarship because she accepted early. Is there any polite and eloquent way to email and ask how the wait list works and whether there will be any scholarship money available, or is it best to just keep quiet and assume that a student who already accepted shouldn't be hoping to move up on the scholarship "wait list" ?

My kiddo was on a scholarship waitlist for grad school. He accepted the admissions offer with out reservation. He was offered the scholarship about a week after his acceptance. I can’t see any reason for being coy.

If the money is a factor, you can inquire as to movement off the list in prior years. They may tell, they may not.
