Music Stores

Hello.

I think people are familiar with American Airlines charging $15 for the first piece of luggage and $25 for the second piece.

I have a really cheap acoustic guitar at home, but I don't want to pay 1/4th its cost to bring it to Duke. I also am considering a minor in music (specializing in jazz), but again... I don't want to pay 1/4th the cost to bring my electric guitar, specially since it's more of a n00b rock guitar and doesn't fit the demands of jazz (side question: are there instrument rentals in the music department?).

Anyone have experience with music stores around Durham? I live around 10 miles from downtown Los Angeles, and there are quite a few stores and large chains (Guitar Center, for example... but they don't have many "unique" guitars), but are there a lot of small music shops around Durham that sell quality guitars? I'm planning to buy a moderately expensive acoustic guitar, but I'm unsure whether or not to wait until I reach Duke before buying one.
