Music submission--DVD or CD?

Hi, to the musicians out there who have applied to prep schools (or are doing so this year)--is it better to submit a DVD or CD of your playing? How long should the sample be in terms of minutes or number of songs? Thank you!

My daughter had a DVD all ready to go, which her teacher thought was good because you could see her playing, but Andover then specifically requested a CD, not a DVD, so the great people at her middle school converted it. I think she had a couple of short pieces on it, maybe 5 minutes? Your music teacher should have some ideas for you. Good luck, I know it made a difference for my daughter.

My daughter may be submitting a sample of her playing this year. Is it possible to send MP3 files via email? Or are CDs the only way to go? How do you go about getting a CD made? I’m totally ignorant on this.

@momb2k: It’s pretty easy to burn a CD with MP3s (generally plays on any computer and some CD players) or even convert them to AIFF (standard audio CD) files using computers these days…

I sent in a CD of me playing 2 pieces, about 10 min. total. Submit what the school specifically wants.

Thank you all very much for the responses.
