Music Submission/Supplement

Hello,
Music is my main extracurricular and I do a lot of it through school and a ton of programs outside of school. However, I’m applying for a humanities major. So I thought I’d do a music submission!

I have a few recordings of my playing to send in, including one movement of a Mozart french horn concerto (accompanied by piano), a modern unaccompanied solo, and part of a Romantic composition (with piano). Brown says its limit is 15 minutes, and each of these recordings is about 4 minutes, adding up to 11 mins. They’re audio recordings and I don’t think I sound too bad in them. But they’re not flawless. In each one I make several mistakes (several fingering mistakes and a few missed high notes) that the music department/admissions office will definitely be able to hear.

Has anyone done this in the past? Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should send in, if I should at all?

Thanks!

I sent in a music supplement, albeit a few years ago now (class of 2014). I’d suggest sending in two of them, in contrasting styles. Check the submission criteria for other schools too, so you can end up sending the same recording to most of them.

In addition, I’d suggest a short “resume” of your musical experience - teachers, orchestra/band experience, competitions, etc.
