I was wondering if I should submit a music supplement. I play violin. I'm not conservatory level or anything like that, but I have been extremely involved in music throughout high school. I've been playing violin since 7th grade, and have been in all-district orchestra for the past three, and concertmaster of my high school orchestra.

I would like to be involved in music at MIT, participating in the orchestra and most likely doing either the joint music major or some kind of minor, focusing more on theory/history. Would it be a good idea to submit a supplement? EDIT: I'm just worried since MIT want to see "exceptional talent" and I don't know what that means.... Would it hurt me if the people listening thought it wasn't good?

Also, would it be possible to submit a supplement past the Jan 1st deadline? My music teacher wouldn't be able to submit a rec letter until later.

For the maker's portfolio, would jewelry making be appropriate? I mostly do wirework (drop earrings, wire trees), but this is something that I spend a lot of time on and I enjoy. I did write my free time essay on this, so it might be redundant.

If I do chose to do a supplement, I'd only send in one. Any answers will be much appreciated!
