DS loves music, but has no plans to be a music major. I know certain schools will allow you to submit a music supplement. If the school does not ask for one, is there some way to include it in the Common App or should he not bother? He is a competent musician, and we do have some videos of his performances at recitals. Should we upload these videos to youtube and include a link in the additional info. section?
There is a great music forum here on CC, under “majors.” Music is usually done as an “arts supplement” to the common app. It can include a video or recording, a music resume with teachers, programs, performances etc., and a couple of letters of recommendations from teacher or directors. Some even include concert programs if they are impressive.
As for uploading and you tube etc., others on the music forum can advise you because 8 years ago, my kid sent hard copies with physical discs!
ok. Thanks. I will post there as well.
Bump. Anyone have any ideas if my kid wants to minor in music, should he bother submitting any kind of music supplement? How is that done on the common app? We do not have any audio recordings just video.
It doesn’t matter if he doesn’t even want to minor in music. It is about an ability to contribute to extracurriculars as well. I lave the tech question to others…
