I'm thinking of sending in a music supplement to my colleges. I have three problems though.
1. I play the guitar by ear. It would be extremely tedious to put the notes down on music, especially since I know no chords or notes on the instrument. I know how to read music, but I can only sightsing. I also know that composer supplements require scores.
2. I guess some need recs, and the only music teacher rec I can get is from my voice teacher or my choir teacher. Neither have heard me play the guitar yet.
3. I don't really have any accomplishments. I've never formally performed or anything.

So what do I do?

A lot depends on the specific schools, what they accept, and how your talent and skills relate to other applicants. There are many self taught musicians with little or no formal training, but one of the biggest issues many students have is assessing their talents across a national base. This is where a solid assessment from a professional musician, college level faculty, or teachers/instructors with a wide knowledge of what’s out there comes in handy in determining if it may be worth sending.

Good luck.
