<p>My daughter and I will be visiting the weekend of Sept. 27 and 28 (USC is her top choice at this point). She is very interested in a cappella music groups in addition to musical theater opportunities. Can anyone chime in about this side of USC? Does anyone know if there are any performances we could go to the weekend of Sept. 27/28?</p>
<p>These is a theater performance that weekend but it is comedy, not musical. Looking around website I didn’t see any events listed for Cockapella or Cocktails, the two a cappella groups I know of. In fact Cocktails doesn’t have fall audition stuff up yet. There is off off broadway club that performs but don’t know details of schedule. Maybe look these groups up and email the contact people to see if anything, even a rehearsal you could attend, is going on that weekend.</p>
<p>There are 3 community theater groups close to campus - Trustus in the Vista, and Town Theatre and Workshop both within walking distance of school.</p>
<p>The official Theatre Department at USC doesn’t do any musicals. Most of the musical events around campus will be much later in the semester.</p>
<p>Off-Off Broadway is the main Musical Theatre group on campus. They would be good people to get into contact with.</p>
<p>Thank you for the tips about the community theater groups–there are 3 shows to choose from that weekend! Nice to know there is a lively arts community in addition to the campus groups.</p>
