Hi, I am looking for a college that has a Music therapy major. Anyone wiht suggestions please let me know.

erica, there are a few good links in here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/music-major/940298-musical-therapy.html?highlight=music+therapy

To the best of my recollection, there is only one music therapy parent poster currently on the forum. Try a pm to rudysmom if she doesn’t respond within this thread.

Erica - I’m not sure what part of the country you’re interested in, but when we were looking last year, I remember there being MTherapy programs at Montclair Univ (NJ), SUNY Fredonia, and Appalachian. We didn’t explore them in detail, though, because my D is going the music Ed route.

Florida State

Take a look at Colorado State University in Fort Collins.

Duquesne University

Hey you can just have a look on this site. Hope this will help you.

Erica,

There are a lot of schools to choose from for music therapy. I would recommend look at the American Music Therapy Association ([Welcome to the American Music Therapy Association Website](http://www.musictherapy.org)) for a list of AMTA-Approved schools that offer music therapy as well as looking into the research and clinical interests of the faculty in the music therapy program you are interested in. I teach in the music therapy program at Slippery Rock University ([SRU Music Therapy Program](http://www.sru.edu/academics/colleges/chfpa/music/Pages/MusicTherapyProgram.aspx)) and would be happy to answer any questions you might have about SRU or majoring in MT.

Shenandoah University in Virginia has Music Therapy. An hour from DC.

hello everyone…

) that will surely will help you and trust me you will not be disappoint with them because they just know the trick how to come over the problem. Just you can try at least.

There are about 70 schools that offer it. Www.musictherapy.org. You can also find registered music therapists in your city.

once again hi to all…
Li Bailey thanks for your suggestion but music therapy should be given by specialist only then it will work.

^So you’re suggesting that the non-profit, governing body of American music therapy is somehow less knowledgeable or credible than an Irish for-profit institution that simply delivers the service instead of training practitioners in the service? I fail to see any merit in your post – please do not mislead others if you can avoid it.
