Music

Have you heard the piano transcriptions? I'm planning to play a full concert of them next year.

As with my favorite RH stuff....I'm listening to Johnny Greenwood's classical music right now...lol

????how do i find that classical stuff of Johhny??

It's called 'smear' played by the London Sinfonietta. He has been named as composer in residence with the BBC.

so i have to look for smear at limewire?
Does anybosy love Sonic Youth/Pixies/The Cure?

My two favorite bands are Radiohead and The Shins (depending on what mood I'm in).

I also like some classic rock, various ambient electronica, and classical.

Personally, I'm way into hard rock/heavy metal, ie. MEGADETH, RAMMSTEIN, Marilyn Manson, etc.

Marilyn Manson is a genius...unfortunatly people see him as a freak, whil he is really a normal guy....when you listen to tracks like the nobodies....its amazing.
Still...Radiohead is the best of them;)

Man, it seems like I need to get updated with the whole music industry! I am still living in the 2004. Is it just me or are some people rather unimpressed with the present music scene?
I for one get no satisfaction with todays music. It is like something/someone has sucked the marrow out of it. At this time I would like to quote Bob Seger:
"Todays music aint got the same soul, I like the old time rock and roll"
But David Gray's Babylon (actually the entire album White Ladder) and Eric Pritz's Call On Me are great to listen to. I also follow Cold Play, but their X&Y was dissapointing. I am looking forward to RHCP's Stadium Arcadium. Gorillaz' Demon Days is worthy for a salute. Every song is good. Its amazing how they can come up with such gems of songs.
Audioslave have some good numbers, but IMO apotheosizing them would be extremely foolish!
Can anyone recommend some good new tracks except those of Audioslave, Coldplay and other hardcore *?
Pink Floyd is getting way too mush unwanted attention coming in rankings and *
. I prefer their music to be esoteric.

Paranoid Android: If you like Fight Club, you should definitely buy its soundtrack! It is amazing. Especially the Chemical brothers' works. Also, watch Guy Ritchie's other movies like Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels, Revolver and Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange and Quientin Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, you'll not be dissapointed!

Is downloading songs via Limewire/Morpheus legal in the US of A? I heard a student from some college got busted for sharing unreleased music?

Disturbed, 3 Doors Down, Trapt, Metallica, Rise Against....Fu chie Greenday.

Oh, def. Rammstein. Never heard Megadeth. don't know why...just never got the chance.

No...it's not legal. But people do it anyway. I think the statistics are something like this: 1 out of 8000-something who illegally download actually get sued. Pretty good chances of nothing happening to you.

Yes, todays music sucks really bad, it's al about finding finding a sound that is attractive, it's had become markting. In the old days (and some of todays bands do it still), music was just a reflection of yout feelings/opinions. But fortunatly we have bands like Radiohead,Bjork etc.

i'll listen to all kinds of music but when people think theyre really special and deep for shunning "popular" music for the indie-esque obscure bands it gets annoying. "im listening to the garden state soundtrack! arent i cool?"

just my little rant. i love the garden state soundtrack by the way.

hahaha...I like how ****ed off people express themselves.
Garden State, weirdass movie. But the soundtrack is good though.

Garden State was wierd, but it was wierd in the sence of how wierd the human condition is wierd. I luuved it. (also because I can relate to the main character more than any other movie I've watched) Relative giving shirt made of the wallpaper as a present=priceless.

I think the best soundtrack is from Fight Cllub, made by the Dust Brothers,,,,it's really a underground sound, amazing.
I think Radiohead by the way..is the most original band of the last 20 years, first there was Pink Floys, who were making the first kind of electro music. And Than you have Radiohead, with there soundscapes, weirdness, scary tunes and strange instruments.

Paranoid Android...
The three pop groups/people that "classical composers" in my age range (18-30) usually consider as the holy grail are usually Radiohead, Bjork and Aphex Twin.

If you like Radiohead, I'd strong recommend that you listen to some music by contemporary composers. For example, the Radiohead band members really like Olivier Messiaen and Karlheinz Stockhausen. If you like weird music, you might also consider the music by the "Bang on a Can" composers like David Lang and Michael Gordon. (Esp. Gordon's Light is Calling album)
