Does anyone bring their guitar to college? If so where do you practice at?

I'm interested in knowing the answer to this also.

girls love guys with guitars. On another note, I see plenty of guitars. If its acoustic and you are good, many people won't mind you practicing wherever. Otherwise, your school should have a music building with practice rooms. There is however this annoying guy who rides around my campus on roller blades with his guitar and a cowboy hat. Don't bring your guitar if you are going to do that.

Yes. My RR3 Jackson is literally sitting on my bed as I type. I also brought my Zoom Fire-30 modeling amp. Suffice to say, it rocks my floor :) Because I practice in my room.

firewalker do your room mate and the other people on your floor care when you play? and what kind of music do you play?

Obviously I don't play when they're inside the room. But I do tend to play LOUD. I turn it down whenever my floormates come and ask me to turn it down. And I play metal guitar. Why do you ask?

It seems like every other guy has a guitar.

yes people bring guitars to college. in fact my roomate has one in our room. i guess it depends on who your roomate is, but typically i don't have a problem with him playin his guitar in the room

some dorms have a practice room-we have one in the basement, theres a piano and some kid brought a drumset in.

Most dorms don't care if you have an acoustic guitar since it's not very loud. However, many of them ban anything you plug into an amp because it's annoying and bothersome to other people living around you.

Here at Maryland, you can bring your guitars (acoustic or electric). I brought an amp too, but a small one (I might bring my bigger one after Christmas). Guys often practice/jam in their rooms or the floor lounges, and people don't complain so long as it's not late at night. If we wanted to play really loud, there's a huge basement lounge/rec room in my building (where they've already had a coffee house type show), and no one sleeps near there.

I have friends who just practice their acoustic guitars in their rooms, but you can always go to a practice room if you don't want other people to hear. Load singing and the playing of any other instruments is supposed to be done in the practice rooms.

you'll see a guitar in every other male room on campus... guaranteed... and every once and awhile some girls too.. i had my two electrics and one acoustic in my room.

i brought my electric guitar to school. i'm glad i did too, it seems like acoustics are the only thing people brought, ugh...when my roommate's in the room, as long as he doesn't need quiet, i can practice when i want. i don't have to leave the room to do it, though i do know that there are music practice rooms all over the place in other dorm buildings (not mine...it's too old).

and if anything, an electric guitar has the potential to be far quieter than an acoustic. you can use headphones and play pretty much normally. with an acoustic, the best you could do is play very soft, but often times that just won't cut it. even at the louder end acoustics can get fairly loud, enough to hear through walls. granted, an electric can get far louder than an acoustic, but if you exercise common sense and be considerate of others, i would say it's not a problem at all.

Forget a guitar. Keyboards are where it's at.

i had a smokey mini amp which was really small and can fit in your pocket.. and you can hook up headphones quite easily.
