Music

I've noticed something that this board is severely lacking and that is MUSIC.

It may only apply to me, but MUSIC (and yes, I do insist on continuously capitalizing every letter in the word) is a huge part of my life.

I love every type of music. It is a disease, really. From The Clash to Marilyn Manson (interesting story with this guy) to The Beatles to City High to Britney Spears (yes, yes...I sang to "Hit Me Baby One More Time" in a 3rd grade talent show :O) to System of a Down.....The true meaning of eclectic. Right now, I am listening to The Kooks' Ooh La + Incubus' A Certain Shade of Green (simultaneously! yes, I am a talented girl), and I must say that the lead singer of The Kooks (Luke?) has an awesome voice! So young..nice hair...etc. Haha. Disregarding that jump into girliness (???), music rocks.

So, what type of music do you like? Favorite songs/artists? Feel free to ramble as I have done.

Now, I'm listening to Spanish Caravan. :P

Oh, I should add that the beauty of 50 Cent has yet to come near me...I enjoy a lot of the older rap, but to sum up my feelings between current popular styles of rap and hip hop

"The difference between rap and hip hop is the difference between saying you're in love and actually being in love." (as a movie...whose name I can't recall...once said brilliantly)

I feel like I'm talking to myself on this post. :] It is intriguing. It can serve as my blog...? :P

Go to the cafe, there's a thread about music there.

I like classic rock, much being from the British invasion. Mainstream is okay. I like quirky music, just random stuff. Gwen Stefani is good.

:D

Cafe, eh? Awesome. I'll check it out.

And, awesome! It gave us The Beatles + Searchers. You have great taste in music :) I like Gwen Stefani, too. I remember first hearing her CD with the rest of No Doubt when I was like 10 years old.

I'm not so much a "band" person, but I certainly am a music person. Classical music, Musical Theatre, and other soundtracks are my passions. I love stuff that puts a picture into your head.

Oh, I love classical music. Mendelssohn and Bach have always had my hearts. Recently, there's this guy I have been listening to called Voronov (sp?). I've only been listening to him for a few weeks now, but it's really cool. Darker than what I usually expect.

I am completely lacking in the musical theatre section. Everything I listen to from there comes from recent movies, primarily...including many Disney movies. Haha. Do you have an recs?

Mostly older stuff. And I mean really older stuff, as old as it can get while still being pop music. I listen to a lot of random stuff for novelty, but my real musical interests are people like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitgerald, Count Basie, Cole Porter, Ethel Merman...I love broadway as well, but only things before the 1970s (or as I say, pre-Webber).

I've also been minorly obsessed with David Bowie. He's pretty much the most godly alien ever.

I heart music. Broadway showtunes, and proud! I love musicals!!

I listen to R&B and classical music. Recently, I've been looking into musical scores from newly released movies. Pretty cool stuff.

Snoopy, did you mean the threads about whether Nelly is a rapper?

lol, j/k I think there is one.
Personally I'm sort of musically challenged...

Haha. Hemingwayisdead - have you ever watched a movie called bande a part? you might like it. there is a scene with music that is absolutely phenomenal.

showtunes? musicals? it sounds like so much fun...the kind of fun where everyone in the audience spontaneously dances. i wonder if that happens...I'm doing that next time I go to the movies or something. Maybe a broadway show :)

R&B - I looove sleeping to it. Haha. So many are about love and have soft voices. It just makes me sleepy.

I DON'T like pop, rap thats just like "oh i want to get into her pants" type things they're just stupid

I listen to a lot of techno/dance/house as well as Italian, French, Spanish & Greek pop.

I really can't stand a lot of American music. I went through the emo/screamo/indie/hxc/metal/nu metal thing (lol), and it wasn't for me. The only bands I still listen to are Slipknot & MSI. Rap/hip hop isn't for me either. Most of it is vulgar, degrading, disgusting.

Oh & I'm quite obsessed with Frou Frou/Imogen Heap & Jem. Their voices..wow. lol

Yes, I have seen bande a part! :D I actually have it on DVD. Godard is my second favourite film director.

(and yes, I do have my favourite directors ranked from 1 to 10).

I heart musicals. Can't wait to see Dreamgirls!

And yes, I am one of those people obsessed with High School Musical. Cheesy as heck, but soo catchy.

traxx, I'm also obcessed with Imogen Heap. She has one of the best voices ever!!!
