how is the music program at Vandy?? I've been accepted, but I really don't know that much about it.

The Blair School of Music Homepage

Considering one of the 4 undergraduate schools is the Blair School of Music, a conservatory style music school, I'd say the music program is very good. That's what I was accepted for. =D
There's plenty of opportunities for non-majors in whatever you like to do, instrument, sing, anything. And of course you can take pretty much any class you want there.

The music program is awesome. I'm a violinist coming from Interlochen and I made a point of applying to the best music schools within the best universities. Vanderbilt gives you an amazing conservatory-style training within an amazing university setting. Besides that, you're in Music City, U.S.A.! How much better can it get? From what I understand, there are many opportunities for the students to gig and instrumentalists can pursue styles other than classical (personally, I'll be spending a lot of time fiddling!). I had a chance to meet Professor Teal and Professor Heard (violin) after my audition, and they are wonderful people. You could do a LOT worse than Vanderbilt for music!

ETA: I'm DEFINITELY going next year... and SO EXCITED!

i was accepted for voice. how is that program?

To steff: When did you hear about your acceptance? Did you apply Early Decision? I also applied to Blair's vocal program and haven't heard anything.

I did not apply early decision. I found out a couple of weeks ago. They sent me a letter saying I was accepted and that my official package would be coming around april 1st.

I wish you the best of luck though!!
