Musical Instruments

Knowing that all of us at CC are overachievers, I bet many of us play musical instruments.

Which musical instruments do you play and how long have you played them?

I played piano for about 4 years before I passed the level 12 theory tests and audition (or something of that nature). Learning is so much faster if you actually like playing the instrument. Ever since I passed about 2 years ago, I play occasionally and I am self-learning jazz piano and metal keyboard.

Just a few months ago I picked up bass guitar to play in the worship band at my church. I'll try guitar soon.

I've played the piano for 11 years, but i never got really good. I NEEEVVVVEEERRR practiced, so I didn't excel very much at the end. Came naturally to me at first, so I improved very quickly, but it definitely slowed down. A lot.

I've played Violin for . . . 8 years. Since 4th grade.

I liked classical music in 6th grade, so naturally I picked...alto sax! Not the greatest choice, cuz we don't get a whole lot of melodies in wind ensemble, but it's fun to play.

I've played piano for 13 years, clarinet for 9 years, guitar for 3 years, tenor sax for 3 years, and the flute for 1 year. I stopped playing the flute and the guitar, but the others I still play.

Alto Sax 8yrs
Piano 4yrs
French Horn 3yrs (haha...just felt like learning something new and strange)

I've played flute for ten years and tenor sax for five. I also took two years of steel drums classes, I've been teaching myself clarinet, and I start piano in the fall. Oh, and I can play recorder and piccolo, though I don't play them regularly.

By the time I'm through college I'll be able to play just about everything though, as it's required that you can play everything to a certain degree of proficiency in order to teach music.

Drum set - 6 years

Guitar - approx. 3 years

Unfortunately, I quit piano at an early age :(

Clarinet - 8 years
Bass Clarinet - 3 years, not consecutive
Bass - 7 years

I've also taken piano for half a year and I learned the sax from playing the clarinet. My favorite sax is the tenor, but I want to buy all 3 of them someday.

violin for 7 years.

I play iTunes. 2 months ago I passed the Level 6 test... it was the hardest thing I've ever had to take. I'm proficient at pausing and playing music.

(Okay, so I don't really play anything.)

Clarinet- 6 years
Piano- about 2 years, quit at a young age.

flute, but i stopped playing publically so i haven't really gotten to practice in a long time.

Voice, 4 yrs.

Choir ftw

Um.
PIano I quite in eighth grade. Well, my mom had me "quit" I had already been done up to that point. I wouldn't practice so mom pulled me out.

I've played trumpet for six years and tuba for two. (Wow I never notices how intersting that sounds...tuba for two.) (Random day for me.)

Oboe for 8 years... choir on and off

I sing. :)) If you consider that as 'instrumental'.

Mallet Percussoin (Bells, Xylophone, Marimba ect.) for 8 years

Violin for many years, double on alto/tenor sax and oboe at school.

violin 5 years but I don't practice at all so I suck.

um, drums for 2 years during middle school band because other electives sucked ass. Don't play anymore.

I'm not very musically talented, but I am in the school orchestra just to get rid of those damn ART GRADUATION requirement bs.

Clarinet 7 years.
