just check their myspace yo Arctic Monkeys on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads no need to spend any money on albums

oh my god.
haha idk how to start, really. there may be one or two i'm not as fond of, but i've never heard a song of theirs I didn't like, and I have over 70 despite the fact they only have 2 albums out haha
um. well i like them so much for 3 reasons 1) i like the music-instrumentals (probably the least significant reason) 2) i love alex turner's voice and 3) i absolutely love their lyrics. it's amazing. turner can take these everyday events and feelings and use words to describe them perfectly and succinctly while fitting in with a great rhythm

Its so hard for me to pick favorites though, and some of their best stuff is B-Sides
I guess it would make sense to start with their first, Whatever People Say I Am is What I'm Not and then go to Favorite Worst Nightmare, but they're equally as good in my opinion.

but I'll list songs in another post

and you should definitely check out the songs on youtube before buying an album that you might not like

I personally find them grossly overrated by NME, a magazine who will shamelessly promote any new British band. Despite this their second album, Favourite Worst Nightmare is far better than Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not. If you're interested in any of their material, the best songs from their second album include Brianstorm, Fluorescent Adolescent, and Teddy Picker. They are all probably on YouTube if you care to give them a listen.

...or just listen to a better band.

Yeah, of which there are many. If you like indie rock in general, you should try Archers of Loaf, Beat Happening, Big Black, Built to Spill, Fastbacks, Guided by Voices, Pavement, Liz Phair, Portastatic, Pussy Galore, etc.

idk, most people only think they're an okay band.
and I was already in love with them before I even knew what NME was, a friend introduced me to them
but i just really love his voice and like the simple but descriptive lyrics. I mean the night out in Ritz to Rubble and drunk texting in View from the Afternoon and out-of-your-league feeling of Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweethearts, it's just so relateable

Balaclava (a balaclava is a ski mask that robbers wear. but I'm pretty sure this song is a metaphor for unprotected sex if you look at the lyrics)
Bigger Boys and Stolen Sweethearts
Brianstorm
A Certain Romance (wannabe gangster kids)
Cigarette Smoker Fiona
D is For Dangerous
Despair in the Departure Lounge (about missing someone, great lyrics)
*Do Me A Favour (after cheating on someone)
*Fake Tales of San Francisco (this is the first song I listened to ever)
*Fluorescent Adolescent (fading beauty)
*From The Ritz to The Rubble (night out)
If You Were There, Beware
Knock A Door and Run (ding dong ditch)
*Leave Before The Lights Come On (one night stand)
No Buses
*Old Yellow Bricks (running away from home)
On the Run from the MI5
*Only Ones Who Know (soft)
Perhaps Vampire is a Bit Strong, But... (record companies)
*Riot Van
Still Take You Home (fake girls)
*Teddy Picker (fake society)
This House is a Circus (fame)
*Too Much To Ask (dying relationship)
The View from the Afternoon (a night out trying to get a girl)
*When the Sun Goes Down (red light district)
What If You Were Right the First Time
You Probably Couldn't See for the Lights But You Were Staring Straight at Me
*
505 (his girlfriend's hotel room number, missing someone on tour)**

I think the last might be my favorite ever. It's a good mix, great lyrics, his voice is amazing

I personally prefer Whatever People Say I'm Not, that's What I'm Not to Favourite Worst Nightmares. And Beneath the Boardwalk (unofficial album, like demos) is definitely worth checking out... I think I have a link for it
