Hi! Is anyone else late getting their Ithaca application in because of the dance prescreen? They have a very specific routine. My daughter didn’t record it over the summer because we weren’t sure if they change the routine from year to year (I should have emailed them or asked on CC). Now we have to find studio time, pay the dance instructor. I’m wondering if there will be any audition spaces by the time we submit our prescreens? My D just started dance but she did record a nice, short general routine for the other prescreens. It’s just not as easy for has would be to just record a monologue or a song. I know her voice teacher said some of her other students were skipping Ithaca this year. ( I’m sorry I posted this in the wrong place before, I’m new to CC).
My daughter ended up submitting her Ithaca application and prescreen right at the deadline last year and got through and had no problem getting an audition slot. She actually enjoyed the dance routine they required. She has some dance background so she opted for the most difficult version, but as I recall there were three levels of difficulty from fairly easy to medium to more advanced. I truly think they are just trying to get a sense of potential for dance training which is why they provide the three options. If your daughter is new to dancing it might be best for her to do the easy option, but do it very well. It would likely take less time to master so you could move the process along and would not require so much work with the dance instructor. Just want to reinforce though that you still have time to get everything in. Best of luck to your daughter!
Thank you Sopranomom! That makes me feel better about the deadlines. My D. is really enjoying the dance classes and making good progress. The entire BFA process is so overwhelming. I have to admire all of these MT students - it’s a lot of work!!
