Thanks all. As @SAS0792 said-I guess we will hear when we hear. Break Legs to all. @belleforbroadway what is ACU?
My D got her first rejection letter for MT from Nov 4 Indiana University audition today… but on the upside 10 callbacks From auditons at Texas Thespian Festival last night she did straight acting auditions there!
@owensfolks ACU is Abilene Christian University. They are in Texas and have a BFA in musical theatre. Hope auditions are going well for all this weekend! We are at Illinois Wesleyan.
For all still waiting on Ithaca - we had to call to ask a question - D injured her Achilles - all of her prescreen material is complete except the “Easy Street” dance - she was planning to screen Saturday but is in a boot until at least the 28th. They told her to upload what she had but she will need to upload the dance in whatever form she can complete it in. They did say they expect to watch all prescreens and would notify after 12/1. I’m wondering if they will batch notify people. D has a few friends who submitted at the every end of October who are still waiting.
Wow, that stinks about the injury, @artskids . Is that messing up any auditions?
It may @owensfolks. Luckily, she is not doing BW in the Fall (would have been this past weekend). She does have Point Park on December 9 so it may be a factor. We will have to see how she heals. No tearing from the ultrasound so hopefully, healing will be quick!
@artskids So sorry! Hope that she heals quickly and it doesn’t impact her auditions! Thank you for the heads up about Ithaca. Just part of the waiting game.
@artskids hope your daughter recovers from her injury quickly. As per other people’s comments, Ithaca spreads it’s prescreens between multiple people… so you never know when they will send out their information.
Had a great weekend at Baldwin Wallace. The whole school was welcoming and the audition process ran like a well oiled machine. Decisions for this first group of students will get sent in December. Should we start a Decisions 2022 page?
so sorry to hear @artskids - thoughts for a quick recovery!
Unfortunately D received her prescreen No from Ithaca via snail mail yesterday. I didn’t give her the envelope until this am, because I had a feeling what it was and I knew she would be disappointed. She was going to a concert last night, and I didn’t want it to ruin her mood. She was sad, for sure-but just as her one No from Otterbein last year; she understands the process.
sorry to hear @owensfolks - I am sure she will end up in the perfect program for her, but this process is painful
I couldn’t agree more with @owensfolks … your daughter will find the perfect school for her. Here’s to the remainder of audition season and may it be filled with positive experiences.
I’m sorry to hear that, too @owensfolks. I agree with @mamafaria and @ MTmomSF… the process is painful, but hopefully your daughter will end up in the right school for her!
As the no’s start to roll in remember that they are not a reflection of your child’s talent (for the most part). How they handle these rejections will tell you a lot about how they will manage in this horrible business. LOL And again my mantra “Love your safety”. There are hundreds of wonderful programs out there that when given the chance might turn into a diamond in the rough.
@owensfolks I am really sorry. We got the same thing from Ithaca and also Depaul (as I’ve said here before). I am sure your daughter would be an asset to any program. I know mine would be. This part just sucks!! I will always wonder why she passed bigger better ones than Ithaca but they simply dismissed her and now I carry a bit of a grudge for that school haha. I’m sure there will be more no’s in this process and it makes me a bit nauseous. Also I totally relate to “give it now and ruin their evening …or when will it hurt the least?” This is really challenging. I believe to be doing this again shows that your daughter has great strength of character. That is something to cherish.
Thanks, all. She’s good. She is a tough cookie She sure as H-E-doublehockeystix isn’t taking a second Gap Year, lol-so she has a good list with a REAL safety (not just one/ones that she chose last year because Mom wanted her to!) One step closer to knowing what color spirit wear we will all be donning next fall…
Has anybody had an experience with applying to Rider? How soon after app was submitted did you find out about passing of prescreen? Thanks
@jenniferm1973 My daughter submitted the Rider prescreen on 10/29 and got notified she passed on 11/11. Hope that helps!
Final (I think) prescreens submitted. D did one of her dance prescreens with an injury. She may be adding one more school to her list today but all the pieces/parts are there to load. Only a month later than “mom’s schedule”. And so it goes! One more essay to edit and all initial submissions will be complete. This part seemed very protracted to me. How are people feeling about using the same songs and monologues for auditions as they did for prescreens. I know some schools prefer it unless you let them know in advance you want to change. D changed up some of her rep after her prescreen songs were done!
