Musical Theater Prescreens - Class of 2022 (process/response)

D Heard back from Florida State and PACE prescreen …both yes. No from Penn State and Syracuse . However have not heard back from Oklahoma City University Onsite audition… anybody heard back yet?

@collegemom2000, this might be too late but I’ll share our similar story. My D had a monologue that showed her full body but she wanted to submit a different monolgue and she didn’t want to record it again. I convinced her to just refilm the slate as a full body and then trimmed the original video to remove the slate and added the new slate. I figured they at least got a glimpse of her whole body. I would hope the schools would show a little grace and not pass on someone because they didn’t submit exactly what they requested as long as it was reasonably close.

@TX1_MTbound, when did your child submit the prescreen to Penn State and how soon did you hear a decision? That’s the only one my D is waiting to hear from but she didn’t submit until 11/18. She passed the prescreens for Michigan, CMU Acting, Syracuse, Ithaca, TCU, and Florida State Acting. She did not pass CMU MT or DePaul. Overall she’s really pleased and is ready to get going with Auditions. Her first one is 12/3 at TCU. Will any other parents in this thread be there?

I want to say D submitted by Oct 15th… heard about 3 weeks later. Congrats on the prescreens… all great schools!
We are waiting to hear from NYU and Ball State Onsite audition results. Unfortunately D is recovering from upper respiratory and has lost her voice … praying for a miracle as Cincinnati auditions are this Saturday .

Heard back from Ithaca which was a yes so that is 8 out of 9 yeses on prescreens. Still waiting on the last one but we are excited!@DramaMamaClass 22 We will be at TCU on Sunday too. Wichita State thia Friday if anyone is heading that way.

@DramaMamaClass22 It said on the Penn State website that if apps were in by 10/15, you hear back by the end of October. After that date, you would hear back by middle of Dec. My D has her audition there on Saturday!

BAL to your D @jenniferm1973. Please report on her audition experience!

@artskids Thanks! She’s super excited! She did their Summer program this past year and absolutely loved it!

@DramaMamaClass22 my daughter is scheduled to audition at Oklahoma City the first weekend in March. She has already been accepted to the university. It is a blur how it all came together, but I believe we chose a date online. Congrats on the callbacks - my daughter did not pass Penn State too.

@belleforbroadway, my D has a 12:30 audition and 1:00 dance call. How about yours? Maybe we can grab coffee and compare notes while our kiddos audition.

@jenniferm1973, Thank you for that info. I would love to hear about the Penn State audition!

@hmichmom, I read that lots of kids didn’t pass the Penn State prescreen in prior years. We have our fingers crossed.

@DramaMamaClass22 My d is in the 1pm dance call also. Her audition is not until 3pm but we could talk while they dance.

Big milestone to celebrate - 15 applications and 9 prescreens completed and submitted! Dance is not my S first love so there was a lot of reminding (aka nagging) on my part to get the dance demo completed for the last four prescreens. Now he waits, which I know is going to be more stressful in a different way, but right now I am just so excited to have everything checked off that monster list that has been looming for the last six months:) Whew!

@lots2learn, Congratulations! I know you are relieved. Enjoy the break because January and February will be here soon enough! Where did your S apply?

@lots2learn Huge milestone! It is heard to believe it is only the beginning LOL. D did 18 applications - including 2 safeties - and 8 prescreens. I feel like I’ve run a marathon already and it’s only the first few miles! This is a nice break to work on sharpening and cleaning up rep.

I’m glad we finally have a break! January will be a nightmare between auditions, keeping up with classwork and the multitude of costs related to traveling to all the auditions. Thank goodness we have each other!

So nice to get through the first steps of this insane process! 19 apps, 8 pre screens, exhausting!

Break legs to all auditioning this weekend! We’re headed to Penn State!

It was like a 3rd and 4th job. All the prescreens, supplemental applications, extra essays… All due today. I’m exhausted. I hope I didn’t make any mistakes! Now we wait. I’m too tired to figure out how the schools get in touch with you.
