Musical Theater Search

Hi ! My name is Antoine, i'm new here, and i'm french.
You might think that i'm crazy but i wanna be a professional singer in usa and i would like to study in a College that teaches Musical Theater.
I've already found information about AMDA, but i don't know where else i could go after my BAC (frenh graduation).
I don't know much about teaching in your country so if you could help me it would be really nice.

PS : sorry if my english is not perfect correct me if i do mistakes.
(sorry for the title, i mean Musical)

Belmont University in Nashville, TN has a good reputation for Music in general and has both a Commercial Music and Musical Theatre concentration. Also, Baldwin-Wallace in Ohio has a good Music rep and offers Vocal Performance and Music Theatre. Both of those are auditioned schools, I think. Columbia College in Chicago has non-auditioned BA’s in Contemporary Music and Theatre with a concentration in MT. Might look at those.

In larger Universities and Colleges it may be harder to major in one area (such as Vocal Performance) and take classes in another (like MT). Most classes are reserved for majors but occasionally there are classes offered for non-majors. It might be easier to accomplish at a smaller or private college that would allow you to customize your training. That would be important to ask the department heads.

AntoineBoom, there is a thread on this forum that lists all of the schools that offer various degrees in musical theater. When you say you want to be a professional singer, do you mean you want to be a pop singer (or some other style of performance)? Or do you want to sing in plays and musical? If you just want to be a singer, you should look at some of the programs they have at Berklee School of Music in Boston. They have a vocal performance major that is NOT based on classical singing (like opera). If you want to be on stage doing singing, acting and dancing, then there is that thread I mentioned that lists the many, many schools we have here in the US.
