So I have a 3.5 right now as a sophomore. I’m trying really hard to get it up to a 3.6, but I am taking hard classes right now- all are honors but are not weighted as such sine the whole school is honors classes. Do you think my gpa if I keep it there or get it up a little will get me into UMich on academic standards? You have to get accepted into the school in general before getting an audition, right? Also, do they focus on classes that have to do with the major you are applying for. I have over a 100 percent in my special music class, so would that help me?
To get an MT audition you only need above a 3.0 and a 24 on your ACT, and pass the prescreen - so you have nothing to worry about! (Actually, I’m not even sure the 24 ACT is still a requirement)
They will screen your academics before you are invited to audition, but that is not an academic acceptance. Acceptance is then based primarily on the artistic review, so it’s all or nothing at that point. Good luck to you!
