Musical Theatre Dance major

Is there any colleges with a specific BFA in musical theatre dance? or just with a very strong dance program or dance emphasis. I already have a pretty good college list built, just exploring. THANKS! :)

Otterbein offers a BFA in musical theater with a concentration in dance.

Roosevelt/Chicago College of Performing Arts offers a BFA Musical Theatre Dance Emphasis. Look at the Roosevelt MT sub forum section of Musical Theatre Schools for information!

Not sure about specific to MT dance but there are a few programs with a strong dance component. Rider, Point Park and Otterbein are on my S’s list because he is a singer/dancer, actor.

Look at Oklahoma City and Pace.

OCU has an amazing dance program!

My D was a dancer first. Being able to continue to be challenged in all areas of dance was a top priority for her. She took summer classes with Michelle Chasse at Boston Conservatory and LOVED her, so if BOCO is on your list you can’t go wrong there. For other reasons, however, my D chose not to go there, but is VERY happy with the dance program at Montclair, where she is a freshman. She spent 2 days there watching and taking dance classes before deciding and is very happy with the program. All dance is multi-leveled and she has been able to take tap, jazz, and ballet since first semester.

I would definitely look at the commercial dance program at Pace. Although it is encompassing of many styles of dance (i.e. commercial dance), from what I know of it there is a strong MT influence, and it’s a really exciting new program.

Second the comment about Commercial Dance at Pace – awesome program with amazing dancers.

While lacking verbiage such as concentration or dance tract, the best programs for training in dance within a MT program are: Elon, BW, PP, with Texas State rising.
