Muslim Ban

I’m a Pakistani Muslim who’s applying to alot of USA universities this year, what are odds that by next year I can’t enter the USA even if I’m accepted by some places?

Low.

I hope it will be ok for you. I hope hate will not prevail. One of my dearest friends was a foreign student from Pakistan who went back to do great things for your country. I wish the same opportunities for you.

the muslim ban proposed by trump is temporary, so you should be fine.

The chance of a blanket muslim ban is zero, because besides being stupid & outrageous, it’s totally unenforceable.

And what’s to stop someone from simply not identifying their religion, lying about their religion, or changing their religion? Are immigration officers at US Embassies going to make visa applicants eat a BLT to prove they’re not muslim?

Don’t lose a nanosecond of sleep over this.

Zero chance a Muslim ban can/will be enacted.

While some Americans are indeed racist, xenophobic, antisemitic, islamophobic, sexist, etc, (let’s not pretend the US is a utopia 100% filled with extraordinary people… Our TV shows can’t all be ‘the good place’, there’s an obvious tap for svu, Chicago pd, ncis, quantico…) this small group is a minority, just more vocal now because of the elections. In all likelihood this won’t affect you since you’ll be on a college campus or in a college town, and studies show that the people who hold these views tend to live in rural areas and/or don’t have a college degree. Just think of Pakistan : how open-minded are people in the mountains vs. people in big cities? How more likely are you to find people who don’t think all religions are equal, that treating women well is normal, that new ideas are a source of progress?

Don’t worry about a Muslim ban. Also, don’t think that reflects the US as a whole or Americans at large.
Focus instead on what all seniors should be: work hard, prepare your applications with care, be ready to contribute to your college’s life.
