Though it's dated and can be downright discouraging at times, it does give a very straightforward view of what to expect from film school. It shows what film school is like, and that information should be taken seriously. The book is essentially divided into three parts: some general advice on how to approach film school, specific reviews of schools, and what to do after you've received your degree. I'd recommend skipping the middle part: 1) it's almost 10 years old at this point, and 2) according to some of the Amazon reviews it's no longer accurate. The book is written with a very terse style, which can be very disheartening for some, but as a rising senior looking to apply to film school it was a nice dose of reality. Overall I'd highly recommend this book for the candid and uncompromised, if somewhat bleak, view of the reality of a career in the movie industry it provides.

I bought it a while ago. It gave me a better look at the colleges I want to apply to, but then again, I also doubt if the information is completely correct.
