what are some cool places on/near campus every student should see before they graduate? like landmarks, restaurants, libraries, etc etc. looking for some places to explore since im gonna be a freshman this fall!

also are there any places near campus a UW student should avoid?? my friends and i were walking around a few days ago and thought parts of the ave were kinda sketchy, esp in the late afternoon when we were there.

Its too much to list, but here are few of my favorites:
Burke-Gilman trail.
arboretum
Sylvan Grove Theater
Gaswork park
Renting a canoe for $5 at the waterfront activity center.
Sakuma Viewpoint/marina
make sure to visit all the historic building and the Suzalo library
Burke Museum.
red square
cherry blossom (in spring)
the fountain.

I would avoid walking alone. Make sure to be in a big group if you go out at night. again, big group. students are an easy target for thieves. don;t carry large amount of cash. Personally. I always make sure that my laptop stays at home. at night time, i carry my id, a prepaid visa card, and a crappy phone (yes, i change sim cards all the time, lesson learned after one was stolen) or simply get a plan that cover loss of a cell phone.

as a female, when i go out, i make sure that my drink is emptied before i go to the bathroom. If that happens, I order a new one. Don’t trust anyone :)
